Immaculate High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Danbury, Connecticut, United States. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport. IHS is nestled in the rolling hills of Western Connecticut and serves 23 towns in the greater Danbury area.
Immaculate High School is now 49 years old; and historically enrolls 400 to 500 young men and women from 9th through 12th grades. Current enrollment is 352 students, of which 32% are from the city of Danbury, 63% from the Connecticut towns surrounding Danbury and 5% from near-by towns in New York State. Additional demographics that help define the student body identify 13% as non-Catholic, 2% as Eastern Orthodox and 85% Catholic. Student ethnicity includes 2.5% Hispanic; 1.5% each Asian, Black and Multi-Racial; and 1% American Indian/Pacific Islander.
Since the turn of the century, 99% of the Immaculate graduates have gone on the further their education and 95% of these have achieved either their first or second college of choice. Sixty-three percent of those graduating achieve some form of college scholarship or grant, the total of which exceeds $7 million dollars per year.[2]
The Mustang athletic program belongs to the South West Conference and competes in class "S" in most sports. There are 14 varsity sports for men and 12 varsity sports for women.
The school's campus features the new Mustang Valley multiuse field. This turf field is used for football,lacrosse, track, soccer, field hockey and physical education class when weather permits. A new track is also available for the student body. The school facility houses a 800-seat gymnasium, a new weight room, and a designated wrestling area.
The school boasts 20 state championships and 32 Conference championships since the school opened its doors in 1968.[3]
